Scholarship
Jazz Camp West has a commitment to provide financial assistance to low income students. We offer a limited amount of full and partial scholarships based solely on financial need, not experience or age. So that our awards go to people who really need them, please honestly assess your personal financial situation before applying.

Our Scholarship / WorkStudy positions are funded by The Julian Neff Memorial Scholarship Fund, the Gabriel Trupin Memorial Scholarship Fund, the Bill Graham Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Paul Vernon Ferguson Jr. "Let There Be Jazz" Memorial Award.

Interested students MUST inquire on or before May 1.

Scholarships/work-study positions are available to all students, regardless of age, interest, or level of experience.

The Gabriel Trupin Memorial Scholarship Fund supports scholarships specifically for dance students.

Important information regarding Scholarships
Along with filling out your financial application, please attach

    1. A copy of your most recent tax return. (Minors, please attach a copy of the adult wage earners tax return.)

    2. A brief musical/dance bio including areas of interest, experience and any other info you would like us to know. (Not more than a few paragraphs).

We will not accept applications that are incomplete, so make sure you have completed your bio, filled out all questions and attached a copy of your tax return.

All of our scholarship awards are considered work-study positions.
If you receive financial help, you will be asked to participate by helping with a chosen task that will not take more than a total of 1 hour a day. These tasks include helping move the tables in the dining hall to prepare the room for our dance classes, office support, moving equipment, clean-up crew, etc. We also ask all of our work-study students to stay approximately 2 extra hours on the final day to help close up camp. You should be ready to go home around 4-5 pm on the final Saturday. Another possible choice of work-study jobs is to arrive a day early to help set up camp in lieu of taking on tasks during the week. If you think this is a possibility for you, give us a call to let us know. People interested in this should either be familiar with putting together drum kits or be strong enough to help move music equipment.

A work-study meeting will be held on the first day of camp before dinner to assign work-study jobs and answer any questions.
